On parade

A prompt start to the day to walk into town to watch the Remembrance Sunday parade through the streets of the town and on to the war memorial.

A good number of people lining the streets with applause greeting various groups as they passed by. Maidstone is home to 36 Engineers Regiment which has a strong Gurkha presence. The Gurkhas are always warmly received as they match through the streets.

A moving service at the war memorial attended by many people who had made their way behind the parade. It was good to be able to attend once again.

After a coffee in Waterstones, a walk back and lunch it was time for a bit more graft. I completed a second coat of emulsion in the dining room while the maestro laid some vinyl in the cloakroom. Our final jobs were to remove a wardrobe from a bedroom and carpet from the dining room ready for carpets to be fitted tomorrow.

We’re getting there. A couple of charities are coming to collect some furniture during the week. Anything left we’ll freecycle.

Only just sat down at 9.00pm with a wee dram. I got out all my single malts. There are 13.
