Inside Sir James

The clouds were undecided about rolling in from the Solway or rolling out as we set off this morning. We tootled along towards Annan and visited the Devil’s Porridge (aka cordite!) Museum, one of JacktheLad’s suggestions and well worth the visit. Sir John is a fireless steam engine, fire not being highly recommended when transporting high explosives.
Then we just tootled on home, mostly on single track roads across the hills and moors, meeting almost no other cars until we got near Innerleithen. Not a route I’d take in any kind of bad weather, far too many signs saying ‘Oncoming Vehicles in the Middle of the Road’!

I forgot to mention that the guy who invented Vegemite was a chemist in that munitions factory. Make of that what you will!
