Church on the hill

This is the name of this landmark church in the central area of Port Elizabeth...or Gqeberha, as it is now known. The Gq is a hard click sound which people have difficulty in doing!!
This Presbyterian church was built in 1865, old by SA standards, and can be seen from far and wide. Sadly the area around it, including the well known Donkin Memorial, are not safe to walk around. So this was a quick shot from the car. This area is a real mix of rundown buildings and then some beautiful well kept houses. I will attempt to show some of the old original British 1820 settler areas.
It's been a grey day with a few minutes of rain. There are floods in George and Plettenberg Bay, a mere three hours away. Why does our rain go out to sea most of the time. Our nearly empty dams need filling.
