An EB Sunset

I drove to Norwich this morning to test drive a Toyota Yaris Cross. Due to the concentration needed to run through the model specs in detail, do a test drive (I’ve only driven an automatic car once briefly before), run through the pricing of the car and extras, get a quote for part exchanging my car, then negotiate a reasonable deal and sign the paperwork - I completely forgot to take a photo for a blip! Needless to say I thought the car met my needs. It’s a full hybrid, I’d have liked an electric car, but I just didn’t feel the infrastructure is there yet for the driving I want to do outside Norfolk and hiring a petrol car for those journeys didn’t look feasible either.

Day 617 / Day 128 of Step 4 of Roadmap Easing (for my record only)
There is a lot of speculation as to why the UK hasn’t been hit by the wave hitting Europe. Speculation includes vaccinating early, so also giving boosters early; having the Delta variant earlier; opening up in the Summer and building up natural immunity by a steady number of high infections; and the latest is AZ saying that their vaccine was used more in older people in the UK and it has been ‘shown to stimulate T cells to a higher degree in older people.’ Other potential factors the Press aren’t mentioning is that a lot of European countries withdrew free testing, they used a 3 week gap between doses (we used 12 then revised it to 8) and that 15% of our infections are the Delta plus variant. France is the latest country to see a surge in infections. Government advice in England on lateral flow tests has changed to ‘you may wish to take a rapid lateral flow test if it is expected that there will be a period of high risk that day. This includes spending time in crowded and enclosed spaces, or before visiting people who are at higher risk of severe illness if they get Covid -19’. People in NI are advised to work from home ‘where possible’ due to high infection rates. Dame Kate Bingham has called for the Govt to employ more scientists as civil servants and to focus on outcomes not process in future disease outbreaks and preparations. Vaccinations have started in Israel in children aged 5-11.
