Arwen aftermath

With no real plans to speak of and vouchers from the aborted trip the other week burning a hole in my pocket, the wee ones and I ventured out post-Arwen for a trip to trampoline park; Jump Rush.

The gales had disturbed our sleep somewhat, so we had a bit of a lie-in, but seeing that the worst of the storm had passed, we set off. Despite reports to the contrary, the main roads were absolutely fine and there wasn’t a post-apocalyptic wasteland waiting for us outside the door. Still rather chastening to hear of the three people who died in the storm. How unlucky do you have to be to be killed by a falling tree?

Aside from a small incident of The Youngest being accidentally booted in the face by a very apologetic young man, they loved it at Jump Rush and it was nice to see them away from screens, having fun and getting some exercise. It was a very quick hour which went by.

We headed home for lunch and then walked round to P’s in the biting wind for a nice brew and a catch up. They walked with us a little of the way back and walking through the parks we were amazed to see the amount of trees which had been brought down by Arwen.

In from the the cold, I got the fire lit and as The Eldest headed out to work, I sat with the wee ones for their very first viewing of Avengers Assemble. I am a massive Marvel fan and have been chomping at the bit to get them into the films, so I was very chuffed that they sat there utterly entranced by it and enjoying the humour. The Hulk’s sudden and uncompromising takedown of Loki as well as his cheeky pop at Thor prompting the biggest belly laughs.

It was fantastic to hear them ask: which one shall we watch next?

It’s been a rather wonderful day.
