The Edge of the Wold

"Oh, no....not another photograph"

Poor Gus, this photography business does involve a lot of hanging around when the blipper takes more, and more, and more shots. But there again, he is getting a lot of recognition. This might as well be his journal now, as he does star in 50% of the blips, and he gets a mention in much more than that. Today he was recognised as we came home through Redhills Wood, I was asked if he was the dog on the internet.

This afternoon, Gus met Rowan for the second time (the first was just a brief exchange of sniffs and licks in the car park at work). The hope was that they would get on as they will be spending a week together later in the year. After an initial show of interest, Rowan decided that he was more interested in a stick than a canine blipstar; while Gus decided that Rowan was there to be rounded up and spent the whole walk around the coast herding him along. The basis of a long and enduring friendship perhaps.

Sue had her sister, brother-in-law and their two children staying with her over Easter; and so we all went on the walk over the Knott and round the headland on a bright, sunny and occasionally almost warm day, returning home for tea and Wifie's best scones.

Reggie update: we took him out of his hibernation box, weighed him and gave him a bath in a bowl. Having got to the stage in life where I can't remember where I put things, I haven't found the piece of paper with his pre-hibernation weight on. However, comparing his current weight with that when he came out of hibernation last year, he is 10% heavier than he was in March 2012. And I do remember that he put on about 10% in weight last year, so that sounds about right. He's been quite alert all day, he's been warming himself under his lamp, and is now sleeping under a pile of hay. So far so good, we need him to have a drink next, but I suppose he will when he's ready.

ps I have only just noticed that it was a year ago that Reg's arrival was first announced. He had been out of hibernation several weeks at this stage last year, there was food and warmth for him outside. So very different this year.
