All Lit Up

Sunny and chilly, rain later in the day. My sister isn’t feeling great; we slept in a bit so she could get some rest. There were tons of birds everywhere to entertain us during breakfast. My phone camera simply does not have enough crisp magnification to get good birds shots though. After lunch, we decided to go to town to check out a few new shops. We bought a few things for our mother. Once it got dark, we drove through the Oglebay Festival of Lights. Their web page states: “Beginning in 1985, the Festival of Lights has grown into one of the nation’s largest holiday light shows, attracting more than one million visitors each year. Identified as one of the top light displays in the United States by countless travel companies and national publications, the Festival of Lights features three hundred acres of twinkling lights over a six-mile drive. The dazzling display includes 90 lighted attractions boasting more than one million energy-efficient LED lights.” They usually have a life sized Nativity scene under cover in the square. This year, they replaced it with this 70 foot animated tree and put the Nativity in the gift shop where it is climatically controlled. I think my blip shows the tree dressed as Santa. The lights changed so fast that it was hard to get the perfect coloration. It was raining so I really did not want to stay for the next ‘show.’ We had dinner at the Chinese buffet and are now heading back to the farm. Thanks for dropping by. Maybe you can find a Christmas light show to enjoy. “The outdoor Christmas lights, green and red and gold and blue and twinkling, remind me that most people are that way all year round--kind, generous, friendly and with an occasional moment of ecstasy. But Christmas is the only time they dare reveal themselves.” - Harland Miller
