A glorious day

A mile post on the Forres to Carrbridge road opposite the junction with the road round Lochindorb. The lettering is now illegible but according to the early editions of the O. S. maps the post once informed the traveller that it was 18 miles to Forres, 17 miles to Nairn and 8.5 miles to Carrbridge. This morning Dava Moor was still flecked with snow and bathed in winter sunshine, the heather russet in the sunshine. The highpoint of our exploration was watching a red kite soaring above Lochindorb and the hills to the east.
