On the Beach

A missive went winging from the harbour secretary looking for volunteers for a work party. “Choose me, choose me!!” I replied immediately. I was in. Oh, it was all going fabulously. Three sinkers lifted (all dragged in the storm). And then, whoops, our man on the tiller (the Commodore!) went astern, right over a mooring buoy. Warps round the prop. Motor conked, and that was that. Oh he was furious. And he couldn’t blame anyone else Doubly furious. Eventually we summoned help and were rescued. Back out in the afternoon with an array of tools. Still no good. A diver will have to be sent for.
Meanwhile over in the west harbour, poor old Runagate* has obviously been taking in water following the storm and is now under water at every high tide, ie she's sunk. Hard to see her recovering from this.
