Wind and waves had sprayed the rocks and pebbles, coating them with ice, creating dazzling reflections in the low sun. It was bitter in the wind and hard to keep the camera still. Spray from the waves is evident against the dark rocks.


In the interest of full disclosure, this is a composite image. Two shots taken at the same time, with the exact same point of view, using different camera settings.

I made one exposure wide open and defocused, producing the bokeh effect, and a second sharper for the rocks. I blended the two in PS, leaving the water partially soft, for a misty backdrop.
