Church On The Hill

A trip to Risca, South Wales (UK) to collect some photo's I took for framing and I enjoyed the drive there through the Usk valley, and Caerleon past this church on the hill overlooking Newport and The River Usk. It's Holy Trinity church (circa 1100AD), Christchurch, Newport, and has stunning views as the blipfoto shows. The green fields just above it was the Roman Military Fortress of Isca Augusta, Caerleon; Occupied 75AD for 200 years, one of only three Roman Legionary Fortresses in Roman Britain! The ampitheatre, barracks and baths are still there and a visit to The Roman Museum is free!
