A bracing walk on the beach

After breakfast we had our last walk on the beach - it was bracing, so we did not make it a long walk but Xena had a great time chasing up and down the empty beach after the ball - see extra. There were only a few people on the beach so it was lovely to enjoy a walk with so much space around you and hardly any other people.

We then packed up and left to come home, and it was an easy 3 hour drive and Gavin was pleased to get back in good time for his zoom call. I finished my book on the journey, it was a wonderful read - Plainsong by Kent Haruf.

Now I have to turn my attention to Christmas and getting the last bits of food, its always a fine balance between getting the fresh products as late as possible so they are fresh throughout the Christmas festivities, and getting it early enough before it gets too busy at the shops. I think this means two different trips to the shops this week...

So many people are coming down with Covid at the moment, yet being fully vaccinated it does not seem to be bad at all, just like a two day cold. We expect the government to announce changes regarding Covid restrictions at any minute, as the PM is reviewing the situation 'hour by hour' - the poor leisure industry is once again suffering, some restaurants around us have closed in order to be safe for Christmas dinners, many theatre shows have been cancelled, and restaurant bookings are getting cancelled at a rapid rate causing distress and losses for the restaurants. Oh what a lovely end to the year....not!

Luke arrives home tonight, so I need to go get supper cooked.
