4144 simmers in the yard at end of service

A turn on the KESR today at Wittersham Road on our Santa Specials. An eight train service that was sold out although some may have cancelled as there were a few empty tables to be seen.

So many days of dank weather finally ended with a brilliant sunny day that was cool and crisp which towards the end of the day turned frosty. As I was driving home a crimson moon rose over the horizon.

The timetable worked well, we were only a few minutes down at end of the service. 4144 is a guest loco hired in for the Santa Specials from Didcot. It’s a powerful beast with a loud, purposeful bark and a piercing whistle

I’m back at the railway on Christmas Eve, working the gates at Cranbrook Road on the last day of the Santas.

We watched Kate Rusby’s live concert streamed live this evening. It was very good.
