Merry Christmas

Up just after 8 to take Phin from my daughter - he slept with her last night so I suspected they’d both had a disturbed night! Quick cup of tea before the other woke up and came downstairs. Muddy walk along the river with my son and his girlfriend whilst the dogs raced around us. Wee drama on the way back when we surprised a hare in the stubble field and the boys took off after it. The hare was luckily too fast so when they reached the wall bordering the field they came trotting back.

Helped with the food prep and discovered the slow cooker in the Aga cooks quicker than we thought so a quick dash to the emergency wee shop for tin foil was made to cover the meat so it didn’t over cook. It didn’t thankfully%

Breakfast eaten and presents opened and it was time to get ready for Ali’s mum, granny and brother to join us for the meal. Was very spoiled with presents but think Mr PHL did particularly well with the one pictured. A quick flick looked full of useful hints and tips so hopefully my skills will improve!

3 delicious courses of baked Camembert and chicken liver pate followed by  the turkey and baked ham with all the trimmings followed by trifle and chocolate mousse were eaten over a few hours. And just when we thought we’d burst we squeezed in some delicious cheese washed down with a wee glass of port.

After the in laws left, we watched the end of the Christmas Chronicles (schmaltzy but enjoyable) before starting to watch Abominable but too much yawning from all of us meant we will save the ending for another time.

Merry Christmas everyone.
