LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW, LET IT SNOW

Wahey we saw some snow on Boxing Day wahoooo!!

We decided Mum needed to get some fresh air today so we took her for a trip out in the car.

It was grey and drizzly when we left Grange.  We just drove up the A590 to Newby Bridge and then joind the A592 along the shores of Lake Windermere.  We were very surprised when we got to Fell Foot to see some snow and then the further we went the more snow there was,  even low down and on the road.   We then just turned a corner a we came to the outskirts of Bowness and it was all gone, except on the tops.

We continued through Bowness, just signs that people were beginning to come out to play (this was a 10.30 am) and the closer to Amblesie we go the snow appeared again.  We stopped of at Hayes Garden Centre, amazed to see it open so popped in for coffee, oh and a delicious cheese scone.  There were a few people there but not too many at this  point. however as we were leaving more and more people were coming in and the car park was now full, so it was a good time to leave.

Driving through Ambleside it was heaving and I was amazed at just how many cafes were open.  We didn't stop.  Drove on up to Grasmere where we decided to turn round, couldn't stop at Rydal Water or Grasmere as it as too busy for me.  Even the White Moss car park was heaving.

We then decided to drive up to Hawkshead on the B5286.  We stopped off a layby by a river, not sure which one but I think it leads to a tarn. Then on up past the turning for Grizedale and headed towards Esthwaite Water.  Which looked magnificent as the closer to that we got there was snow again.  We were going to stop for me to take photos, but the car park was locked.  I ws surprised as I've never seen that car park locked before and a bit disappointed.  However as there was little traffic Hubby managed to slow down enough for me to take some photos, which is one of the main photo and I've also enclosed a collage of today's snowy scenes.

We then stopped off again at Lakeside where it was just very grey and drizzly but you could just see a little snow on the fells.

Then back home up the A590 to Haverthwaite where we turned off up The Mosses (B5278) and came home.

We were back indoors by 2.00 pm after havig had a pleasant 4 hours out for Mum.  We are now watching her Andre Rieu DVD that G bought her for Christmas (she loves Andre).

There that is my Boxing Day adventures.

Do take care everyone and do please stay safe.  See you all tomorrow.
