Fishing with pops

My dad has been taking me fishing since I was a little kid...and it really stuck on me too. Dunno why, my brother never got into it> Whenever I come home though, we always find a way to go fishing and catch up between ponderous 'manly' silences out on the water...fishing. One day I want to take my kids fishing too....

This time of year, spring time, schools of shad run up the James River to spawn. Surprisingly the best fishing is right where the river runs through the heart of downtown Richmond. We fished the morning out in the current with the skyline of the city on the near horizon. We only caught one shad though and a couple teeny perch like this guy...
