The Edge of the Wold

Blue and gold

I couldn't go a whole year without a blip of the Bay and its layered mudflats, and the next few days look too wet and cloudy for showing off this mudscape at its alien best.  This is from the vantage of the top of the Knott,  anchoring this to reality is the fragment of woodland in one corner, and the distant Irish Sea ship on the opposite side.  The sun had already been lost in the cloud massed on the western horizon.  Somewhere out there will be thousands of waders and wildfowl feeding, but they are lost in the distant vastness of this extraordinary place.  The extra was taken a little earlier when the sun was still above cloud and shows two ships in the far distance.

Thanks to everyone who commented and left stars and hearts for the blip of Gus meditating on his comfy pile of bedding.  It is touching just how many people love to see a photo of him.  I think that was the first time I've blipped him indoors.  These days he doesn't provide many opportunities for outdoor action photos, he pootles along slowly, following scent trails, and if we stop for a few moments he will soon start foraging for inedible twigs to chew up and swallow.  Of course, I had to leave him behind for this afternoon's walk up the Knott.  He had a good day though.  As I write this, he's sleeping off his short morning walk in the pouring rain.  Thanks again for all the kindness.

Back-blipped on 29 December 2021.
