On the beach again

Thank you everyone who took the time to leave a comment, sprinkle hearts and stars to mark my 9th anniversary on blip. I was very moved. The beginning of January is a popular time for blip anniversaries and I share mine with some amazing blippers. I’ve replied to most people. A few more to do this evening.

We’re enjoying this new found freedom to go where and when we want, especially as we decided not to travel to Edinburgh. Today found us at Dymchurch beach in the most inclement of weathers.

Fortified by a cheese scone and coffee at the Bucket and Spade cafe (extra, just for the record) we set off for 4 miles to New Romney into the teeth of a gale with heavy drizzle blowing in our faces. I can tell you it was good to turn around and be blown back to the start.

I was trying to capture the conditions in one shot, failing miserably to do so. Although the tide was out and the sands wet the wind still managed to blow loose sand all over the beach.

Despite the conditions there were plenty of people about, a detectorist scanning the sand, bait diggers (or cockles) way out near the water’s edge. Dogs galore and great banks of shell fragments which we crunched through.
