New Year's Eve Laser Show, Tyneside

Covid has caused the cancellation of the fireworks celebrations here, but the planned laser show has gone ahead: it lasts several hours and is on for 3 evenings so there's isn't the need for folks to crowd the Metro or the town centre to see it all at once. Apparently you can register to get a turn controlling the lasers from your phone, but we didn't bother with that.

Rather than go to the Quayside (or the Civic Centre) we decided to see if we could see the lasers from the top of the hill at the Rising Sun Country Park so we headed off there with torches this evening and got quite a decent view. The lasers from the Civic Centre appeared best from our viewpoint so that's what I've used for my main blip; the Quayside ones somehow didn't seem so bright from the hill but the extra shows both.

(Techie info: I used the "Live Composite" mode on the Olympus which is very useful as it fuses lots of shots together but only records new light from each shot so that constant lights don't overexpose.)

As I post this (8pm GMT) I know that some blippers will already be in 2022 - so a Very Happy New Year to all whether You're already in 2022 or still in 2021.

Oh, and don't forget that tomorrow (New Year's Day) is the 1st Saturday of January so it'll be a hosted Silly Saturday - more details on the challenges page here.
