Backwater sunset

After two damp and gloomy days, the sun made a half-hearted appearance today. I took the opportunity for a mooch round Swaddywell Pit, where I was pleased to see that the recent rain had started filling the main pond at last. The seepages were also beginning to flow again. Although we've had a lot of cloud, this winter has been pretty dry up till now - last year everywhere was flooded from Mid-December right through to February.

I then went down to the river backwater at Station Lane and watched the sunset - a soft palette of pinks and golds.
