Spring Hazelcup

A raw, sunless sort of day that didn't really inspire. Nevertheless I spent an hour or so delving into the dark recesses of Thorpe Wood NR, turning over more logs (which are always carefully put back just how I found them). This activity provided a few interesting finds including good numbers of Spring Hazelcup, Elder Whitewash fungus and a good clump of Rambling Tail-moss, which is locally uncommon. I'll have to return to it in a couple of weeks as it had immature capsules -  apparently this species very rarely fruits in the UK so I shall have to get a photograph!
