Winter garden life

A morning of data entry, a trip to a very busy Waitrose, an afternoon visit to our neighbours and helping Alex and CJ prepare for a small New Year's Eve gathering took up most of the day, and meant I didn't manage to get out for a walk, even though the sun shone again!

I had a quick potter round the garden, and found that the fungi and mosses had definitely benefited from the recent damp weather. The larges fungus was a Wood Blewit, delicately coloured purple, and very similar in shade to the Purple Jellydisc which is sprouting from our willow log pile. Several of the smaller fungi remain nameless!

The gathering seemed to be a success. Pete and I joined everyone at midnight, and I was also able to spend a bit of time chatting to Chris and Lizzy - they've finally arranged a date in July for the legal part of their marriage. Only six guests are allowed to attend the registry office, but there may be a small celebratory pub visit or barbecue afterwards. Something to look forward to in 2022.

Happy New Year to all!!
