Rhu Point Beach

Timing was of the essence this morning as a storm was predicted at midday. We drove around a stunning coastal single track lane to the start of our walk and headed off across the peninsula on an easy track. We met no-one at all and passed a couple of remote houses with just a malamute and a gnome garden to say hello to.

The weather was better than forecast and we stayed dry for the whole time with just this inkling of sunshine as we reached the white sands, turquoise water and grassy knolls. It’s a stunning point and we mooched for a while before retracing our route back. A rainbow over the small archipelago was the forewarner as we neared the car but we were in the sunshine, ready for hot soup and wildlife watching on the way home. Little grebes, seals, mergansers and a posse of herons was our collection today.

It started lashing down right on schedule but we nipped out for a half hour stroll on the beach in a short patch of dry weather.

We lit a fire tonight and enjoyed catching up with two episodes of Around the world in 80 days.
