Laid up

In Cromarty Harbour the ferry is laid up waiting for Spring. Coming up for 38 years old, she's a bit of an old banger to be honest. The queue of cars can be long. Last year, a big convoy of Ferraris had to go the long way round because it would be nightfall before they all got across. And sometimes she looks more like a landing craft.

Some day we might get a newer, bigger boat. There ought to be a good business case, though like any ferry it needs subsidy. But why not? Roads are heavily subsidised, and to drive the long way round is 38 miles / 55 minutes.
