Male Chaffinch ( Fringilla coelebs )

Still suffering from a cold so haven't done much and resorted to a blip through the window.  Birds for some reason are in short supply, normally the feeders would be very busy.  Today this Chaffinch was one of the few visitors.  Fortunately, he decided to spend quite a while hanging around in the bush.

At one time Chaffinches, or to revert to my native tongue Scoppies, were the UK's commonest bird, I think that in recent years it may have slipped from this position being replaced, strangely I feel,by the Wren.
