Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

Life in the Big City

I’m in a dark mood on a dark day here .   Spent too much time ion the phone or online trying to fix some broken websites/accounts I needed to work…but happy to report maybe 85% success.   All while it was poring down rain. And dark.    It eventually stopped and we went for our walk .

But I’m going to blip another dark situation…. Our son Eric and family live in a nice mid century modern house in a working class neighborhood north of us in Seattle, across the street from a Seattle City Park with playground and skateboard park.   Increasingly over the past 2 years there have been more and more “Homeless” RVs parking there.   Eric is a very quiet, mild mannered, wonderful Dad but he has been on a rare rampage to get these removed for a long long time,.   I think he knows all the city council by first name, the local police, the parks department, the former mayor,  and anyone else that could possibly help with this situation.  They do respond to him and give tickets or promise that it will be taken care of.   and nothing happens.   The RV folks are night people,  much noise and lights, very loud generators all night and a lot of drug dealing parties.   The city has taken care of their sewage and much garbage… Even tho it is illegal to park there.    Our brand new mayor has promised to “do" something .
Well today Eric texted us this photo…a tow truck arrived and started towing the RVs away, !!!!!  along with some police.   (there was some police incident last night)  Eric and Anne are sad about the situation that something couldn’t be done in this city to help these folks…they are offered other housing but wouldn’t be able to deal their drugs so why would they want to live in a tiny house when they have an RV.   I don’t know where they will go…We have groups along the lake south of us  (extras, taken on our walk today) that could accept a few more ---- there are no family homes nearby.   I don’t know what the answer is, but this is not safe for children tp play here, and it would sure be nice for Eric and Anne to get a decent night’s sleep.

I’ll try to get out of the dark by tomorrow.
