Château Saint-Maire

Marvellous sunshine and blue skies today, so I decided to walk in part of the old town to see some of the beautiful old architecture.

This Lausanne Castle serves as the seat of the cantonal government, the Council of the State of Vaud. It is a Swiss heritage site of national significance.

"It's located on the far north end of the city hill. Lausanne's bishops built it between 1400 and 1430 as their new residence, choosing the site for its distance from the lower city and its turbulent bourgeoisie."
