Self-identify

Do cats recognize themselves in a mirror? Teddy likes to look at himself in a mirror and appears to interact with his reflection. 
Sadly this is an illusion. Cats do not have a sense of self-identity despite the way they seem to recognize their own image. Only apes and humans have that ability.
One curious fact I learnt today though is that cats regard humans as large cats.
