Skiing before the rain comes

We have had weeks of lovely below zero temperatures. The snow has remained dry, easy to clear away and pleasant to play in. It hangs in the trees (there's not been much wind either) and the world looks beautiful. It is a replay of the winters of our younger days in Sweden, when it was always snowy, cold, dry and sunny in winter. (It wasn't of course, but that's how we remember it!)
This wonderful weather is now coming to an end in a flurry of amber and orange weather warnings.  In our area the temperature is going up to +6°C, it's going to get breezy, and it's going to rain tomorrow. That rain will hit roads that are still well below freezing so the water will instantly turn to ice. Fortunately we don't need to go anywhere :-).  As weather goes it's unpleasant but nothing catastrophic here. Inland and to the north of us they are getting far worse, so I can't feel too disappointed.
With a forecast like this, but the sun still shining and the snow still cold we decided we had to go skiing while we could. We skied down to our local lake and went the full length of the frozen and snow covered lake (See extra). Mostly we were on snow mobile (snow scooter?) tracks but just where I took this picture we detoured a little and made our own track.
It was a very satisfying trip and we came home happily tired and glowing with warmth. Jan had some translation work to do indoors and I stayed out clearing snow and moving a lot of dry firewood into the cellar.
