I see no "Lark Ascending"

Today is the 50th Anniversary of my father’s demise. I was 22 years old.

This morning I was reading a Biography of Ralph Vaughan Williams and I reached the pages which described the period when he composed "The Lark Ascending".

This is the most popular work in his oeuvre. It is appropriate for today.

While I was having breakfast, and listening to Classic FM, they played ”The Lark Ascending".

The violinist was Nicola Benedetti, a great favourite of mine. We had enjoyed her at a concert in Dundee many years ago.

And today’s Blipfoto. It is a shot of this morning’s sky, but I could see no lark anywhere.

RVW was inspired by the poet George Meredith.

I continue my day, much inspired and content.
