Sarah's task today was to show Jane, a visitor from Cambridge, around Fukuoka. Jane said that she was interested in textiles, so the tour included a visit to a silk weaving factory and a little shop selling kimonos. A new kimono might set you back 15, 000 yen or so, but a second hand one can be had for only a tenth of that price (around £10). We spent a happy couple of hours looking at the entire stock and buying a few to take home. Jane was very happy.

On our way, we passed a shrine where these newlyweds were posing for photos. I snuck up behind the photographer for my own shot.

Tonight all the students at Cambridge House and the visiting bursars went out to dinner and Luke and I were invited, too. We ended up getting the last train home, but Sarah and her friends went on to a karaoke bar. They will be rolling in once the trains start running again in the wee hours of tomorrow morning. Sadly for them, the elevators are switched off at night... but 10 flights of stairs will no doubt help to sober them up!
