Disappearing

The case of the disappearing mill.

I have previously shared my experiences of rummaging through the ruins of Buck Mill, which can be found across the River Aire at the other end of the Green Bridge

A recent addition to my Baildon postcard collection (extra) really brought home how huge this mill was, and how utterly transformed the site is today.

The card was postally used in 1910. The mill was already disused by then, and it was finally demolished in 1923. A potted history is provided here.  The riffle in the river is what remains of the weir, you should also pick out the bridge on the postcard.

It seemed appropriate to take the card for a visit for a now and then encounter.
