Being spontaneous

Yesterday morning, I was messaging with Munroist, trying to sort out when we might meet up for a walk. Checking the weather, and their availability, it seemed to make sense to abandon our original plans to go out for lunch in the East Neuk, and to head to St Abb’s Head to meet up with Munroist and Mr C, who apparently haven’t done the headland walk for maybe a decade or more.

Given their propensity for longer walks it was very short - just under 4 miles in old money - but it was very satisfying, and we got there quite early which meant that it was pretty quiet when we set out. We met a lot of people heading out there as we were heading back to the car…and I guess by the time they were heading back, we were in Eyemouth spotting a few waves and stuffing our faces with fish and chips from Mackay’s. For reasons of a pandemic character, we sat outside to eat and it got a bit chilly after a while, but it was fun, and sociable, and very tasty.

Home again, I’ve done the bit of work that was hanging over me from yesterday, and generally tried to get my head in gear for the coming week, which will be pretty busy.
