Life Savors

The Contortionist

I slept later than I intended, but when I awoke and saw the sun was out and the temperature was already above freezing, I rushed out and drove to Dyke Marsh.  I was there just about 2 weeks ago, and since that time there have been a couple of more storms that came through which made the trail very difficult to pass in places.

There were no Bald Eagles to be seen this time, but there were plenty of Northern Flickers (pictured here) and Red-bellied woodpeckers (see extra) feasting on the Sumac Berries.

Native Americans consider Northern Flickers lucky and associate them with friendship and happiness.  They made me happy today.
