Red shouldered hawk

Saturday
We enjoyed a good walk round Sharon Woods early afternoon. I had taken several icy shots, see collage in extras, but then as we were about to leave the lake trail to join the gorge trail, we saw a youngish couple at the side of the trail, pointing a camera towards the trees at the side of the lake. I didn’t see anything initially, but Roger went up and asked what they were looking at, and they pointed out this beautiful red-shouldered hawk, looking out for lunch. I took a few shots from where they were first, not wanting to disturb him, but then several people went by on the path, and he didn’t seem bothered, so I decided to get a different angle with better light. We watched him for quite a while, then he flew across the road into the trees, but we could still see him, and at one point he flew down to the ground and caught himself what appeared to be a mouse. We crossed the road too, and I got a couple more shots - I’ve put a couple more in extras.
Late afternoon we were watching the Cincinnati Bengals again in their second play-off game against the Tennessee Titans, an away game. The Bengals had the lead for a while but then in the second half let the Titans equalize, and it remained that way until literally the final 5 seconds of the game when the Bengals scored a field goal! The city will be celebrating tonight!
