We saw the sun today!

A reluctant, very welcome visit from the golden globe mid afternoon gave amazing light after sunset as we were walking around Mote Park.

I was out for lunch with John, my friend for over 55 years, who is moving from Kent to near Salisbury next month.

We went to school together at 11 and despite training at different colleges of education ended up in Kent on missionary work in 1976 and have remained here ever since.

John and his wife are moving to be near their sons and families who are both in the army and live down that way. His wife doesn’t enjoy the best of health so it will be good for them both as they get older to be near family.

Like us, they’re moving on to a new phase of their lives and like us they’re excited about the new horizons. Since we both moved to Kent all that time ago we’ve always lived within a few miles of each other, our children spent time together.

It’s sad that they’re moving, however we will keep in touch and call in. It’s not another country and we have so much shared history and experience.
