Green Shanty

What coy mystery
under your frozen surface
awaits the angler?
Surely not the same sweet secret
that arrives without a hook!

Heading off to work today felt odd after all that time tucked away in a small room.  At first I felt a bit shaky and wondered if I had come back too soon, but it was an easy day and it was good to get back into the swing of things. On the way home I pulled over briefly at the Echo Lake boat launch and walked a little ways onto the ice to snap this photo. I felt both brave and foolish. Only the latter really made any sense.  Anyone interested in understanding the former might refer back to a similar entry from about this time last year.

Our weather forecast for tomorrow: Blizzard conditions with major blowing and drifting of snow. Total snow accumulations of 14 to 20 inches expected. Winds gusting as high as 45 to 55 mph. Strong winds could cause damage to trees and power lines. The cold wind chills as low as 20 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

Could get adventurous if we lose our heat for too long.
