Work in progress.

After a night of the house being battered by gale force winds I joined Corinthian for a walk over Gilstead Crags as a recce for a Bus Pass Walk.  The gusts nearly blew us over at times, and certainly blew the cobwebs away!  Some fabulous views from “up top”, and some wonderful clouds today with just a hint of blue sky - collage in extras.  We ended up along the canal where a lot of work is being done on Five Rise Locks. Work barges are moored there and it looks as if the tops of the lock gates are being replaced (the parts which are pushed to open the locks”).  They are tremendously heavy and one barge (“Henry”) has a crane to aid with lifting the wood which can be seen here on a side craft - amazing it can stay afloat with all that weight.  A good walk with a a couple of tweaks and nice to be out even though we were buffeted about!  Attended an auction in aid of Inn Churches tonight as we were unable to host some homeless people in church over the Christmas period as usual due to Covid restrictions.  Before the final total was calculated it was estimated around £2500 had been raised.  A fun evening in good company, and a pie and pea supper too!
