Sunshine

Somehow everything seems brighter on the first day of a new month.   Unexpected sunshine today no doubt played it's part but the days really are getting longer and brighter :-)

Today's featured plant is Gymnospermium albertii, an obscure relative of Berberis, which I think of as a shrubby genus but this little gem grows from a corky, underground tuber-like storage organ and behaves like the spring bulbs, only being above ground for a matter of weeks in spring-time.  Just a few inches high, it's a pretty little thing lit up by the sun.  More info about it here.

Assorted little jobs got done today and I had a meet-up with a carers-support worker from the team who support Jamie.   This was good.   In the afternoon, a zoom call with a friend of Ruth's in Birmingham who is also heavily involved in supporting her when she's there.   Then Ruth walked Bella - just for a change - and I took Meg for some exuberant ball chasing which was almost done when Tesco called - their delivery fifteen minutes earlier than my slot.   I was able to get back quickly and joked that it was a nice change from those appointments where you wait in all day for someone who never shows up!
