The River is Dry…..

Maisie and I were out walking very early this morning. I dressed for predicted rain and carried an umbrella. A mistake. The morning was warm and very humid. So I was totally overdressed and sweating before we had walked very far.
This stretch of the Taylor River is just downstream from the Burleigh Bridge. At this time of the year long stretches of the river are dry. The white shading in the riverbed in this photo is the residue left by the river water as it sank beneath the shingle. The river water is still present but running beneath the shingle. We are waiting for predicted rain. If a significant amount falls the river waters will rise to the surface and run freely again.
