Cirencester

We spent the morning at home with our daughter’s family. Our daughter had a refresher driving lesson with an instructor as she hadn’t driven a car for many years. She seems quite happy with the experience which is good. After lunch and once our grandson had woken up we decided to visit Cirencester.

The town seems very interesting with a long history. It was at one time the second largest town in Roman times. We viewed the outside of the impressive St John Baptist Church and wandered around the old Abbey garden where the remains of the Roman town wall have been excavated. The town is full of large historic buildings and seems very prosperous with lots of inviting pubs, restaurants and tea shops as well as other shops. Certainly a town worth exploring more.
