Another windy beach

A Saturday walk on the north Kent coast this time, at Minnis Bay. This is the nicest photo, because it was the one short interlude of fleeting sun, but it's not very representative of a bleak, chilly and very windswept walk. We enjoyed the promenade, where the tide was washing right up to the wall and breaking over steps in plumes of spray; J liked the proximity to the water, which is often much further away from the accessible walks. We tried to extend the walk on the clifftop, but started to find the wind rather too miserably cold and hard work, so didn't go as far as we had planned. We were glad we took fika - a very useful word I've learned from Blip, thank you Heanku! A flask of red berry tea and a slice each of P's excellent cinnamon flavoured shortbread, which he baked before breakfast along with a batch of delicious savoury scones, were exactly what we needed.
