Marina

S went out with a walking group this morning and thought he'd be back about 12:30. so we had a plan for him to come back home, and then we'd walk over the hill to the Marina del Este for lunch. So S booked a table for 2:30 which seemed ample time.

However things did not go according to plan. The walkers didn't get back to Almuñecar till 2:45, so having changed the booking to 3:15, S dashed home, changed his shirt, and we drove straight there.

We went to Salazón, a restaurant we'd clocked on our last visit. It was a cut above the others, which looked like pretty basic pizzerias. Little cups of pea soup with the aperos, then a spinach and burrata salad, and hot-smoked salmon with oriental spices, followed by two quite homely cakes for dessert. Sadly, it was overcast, as you can see, but still warm enough to sit comfortably outside. Incidentally, the big concrete slab you can see at top left of the cliff is a projected five-star hotel which never happened -- the resulting eyesore is now a permanent feature.

While I was waiting for S to get back, I made a jar of preserved lemons. And in the early evening, had a Zoom chat with my sisters.
