Drying wings beside the Whau

After a late lunch, I decided an early evening walk was a better option than a jog. Went to a combined walkway/cycleway beside the Whau estuary. An enjoyable walk where i have not been before.

Was fortunate enough to see a pair of Karuhiruhi (Pied shag) resting on branches of a tree which must have fallen many years ago. This one was busy drying its wings and ignored the photographer moving around on the bank to find the best unobstructed view. The other went into the water, and quite quickly dived looking for food.

Earlier on the walk, I saw a group of Pukeko on mud an under the branches of mangroves by the Whau. The extra is of one of them
