Convivial

We spent the day mostly with C and K, who were down from Dundee and checking out their son’s flat across the way from us. Coffee first thing, before a trip to Seacliff. The beach was remarkably quiet. It was the first time they’d been there and the light played ball (see the extra for a more traditional beach photo). After lunch at the Smiddy where we were fortunate to get a table inside, we stopped at Preston Mill to have a look around, although we were caught in a short sharp shower on the way back the car from the Doo’cot (which didn’t impress us). An extra added of the mill.

Later on, they came round again for drinks, and then we headed down to Aurora on Great Junction Street for dinner. Their tasting menu is top class. And remarkably good value for that quality of cooking. A succession of taste explosions in the mouth. And unlike many places of that ilk, they also had “ordinarily” priced bottles of wine on menu. Most impressed. I have been wanting to go there for ages. It didn’t disappoint.
