With love, from Oscar

My first Valentine card, I don't usually get any apart from maybe a couple from the children!
Oscar is the donkey I've been sponsoring for a number of years now. It all goes into the pot to support all the donkeys, of course, but it's nice to have the regular updates about Oscar from the Birmingham branch of 'The Donkey Sanctuary'.
Another animal charity I've recently started donating to is Animals Asia. The organisation is making great strides in eliminating bear bile farming in Asia, particularly in Vietnam and China. They also rescue bears from circuses and have recently had a commitment made, by the Vietnamese government, to outlaw all live animal displays in circus acts.
Bear Bile farming is an horrendous experience, which can go on for decades.
An extract from the website; Home (animalsasia.org)
"Bear bile is collected by means of various, invasive extraction methods, all of which cause massive infections in the bears. Most farmed bears are starved, dehydrated and suffering from multiple diseases and malignant tumours that contaminate their bile and ultimately kill them. Very few receive appropriate medication or any type of veterinary care. Animals Asia has also seen instances of old or very sick bears – those who fail to produce bile – simply left to starve to death in their cages."
