Deliciously red

After a morning of household chores and admin., it was good to enjoy a walk with MrM this afternoon. The forecast for the rest of the week is decidedly 'iffy' - apparently two more storms are on their way - so it seemed a good idea to make the most of some relatively calm weather, and do the Humbleton round.

It was a grey afternoon, but quite clear, and the tops of The Cheviot and Hedgehope Hill weren't hiding under the cloud as they often do at this time of year. Hedgehope is to the left, and The Cheviot to the right on the extra, taken from the highest point on the walk.

On the way back, we spotted a red squirrel in the woods on the Common, unfortunately too far away for a photo. Just one or two crab apples clinging to the tree beside the track - a deliciously red colour for such sour little fruit!
