Flowers for Valentines Day!

Monday
Being on vacation, there wasn’t a Valentines bouquet this year, but instead we visited Naples Botanical Gardens, which was a treat for the senses. It was a beautiful sunny day, but with a cool breeze. The170-acre garden features a showcase of the tropical plant world, including cultivated gardens reflecting the plants and cultures of Florida, Brazil, Asia, and the Caribbean. More than 60,000 square feet of water features throughout the grounds are filled with hundreds of species of waterlilies, with lotus and papyrus, as well. We enjoyed some lunch there, and stayed until about 3pm, when we headed to Naples pier (see extras). Walking along the pier, we came across a couple of very tame egrets, who didn’t seem at all concerned by people going really close to them. We also were treated to quite a display by a dolphin quite close to the pier. We treated ourselves to an ice cream, then walked along the beach and waited for the sunset.
