Friday in Lisbon

Temps today of 19 - perfect walking /sightseeing weather.

I am obsessed with these trams whether riding on them, with the glass shutter windows pulled down, or walking and stopping to watch them as they trundle past. They are iconic. They fill me with joy, which unless you have been to Lisbon and on them you won’t understand. I have so many pics and videos.

Had a lovely breakfast again, bowl of yogurt, granola, fruit and honey, followed by croissants, yes two, one plain and once chocolate which were heated to perfection. There was also cheese and hams and rolls, which I buttered up to take with us if we needed snack and not near a cafe or somewhere we could sit and look at the view and snack.

Today we started off walking downhill to Martim Moniz which is the start of the No 28 tram stop. Not many folks waiting but it is February after all. We got off at Graça and hiked up the hill to a viewpoint with stunning views over the rooftops of Lisbon. Next was walking downhill through Graça to Alfama where there is single track for the trams almost touching the houses on the narrow streets. We ended up at the river and sat on the new chairs for a little while. Deciding on our next stop.

Last time I missed out visiting the best ice cream shop Nannarella so we headed there and sat in a little square nearby. This was near where we stayed on our first visit to Lisbon in 2015, six more visits and we feel like a local!

Went to a little taverna near our hotel for tea which was nice, then walked down to Commercio and listened to some street performers. Folks are sitting out in the evenings. I like this way of life rather than the four layers and scarf and hat etc of February in Scotland. Although they are facing severe drought as not much rain to speak of for a long time., they would love some of our rain. It’s looking very tough for food growers.

Over 20k steps again today and was bushed by 9:30!
