A view from Jeanneb

A favourite place

with my favourite girls.

This morning started grim with some very heavy rain before it stopped around 10.00 am. No matter we’d already decided to go to Saltaire, a World Heritage Site on our doorstep.

Since lockdown Salts Mill and Diner haven’t been opening on Mondays and Tuesdays but as this week is locally half term it was opening for this week only.

As we had the buggy we took the lift which brought us straight to the Diner, I noticed that the Covid one way system seems to have been abandoned, it was quiet so we got a table straight away to have a coffee.
Ice cream was promised to the girls, as Eda wanted to go straight into the book shop, and some appropriate art work was done whilst waiting ( the mill is the home of a considerable amount of a Hockney art work )

The ice cream arrived and was much enjoyed and then off we went to the very best bit of all, the book floor. We bravely left the buggy to let Jude wander amongst the shelves. Many books had to be rescued but when she chose this one she was happy to sit at the little reading table provided to look at it. She’s still very into things that move or can be discovered under flaps etc and this one fit the bill.

Two books for Eda, a Judith Kerr which she chose after several changes of mind and a nature sticker book. I got an animal magic painting book for Jude too.

This afternoon they have done sticking and painting and both have been out on the swing in the garden.

Whilst Jude had her nap we looked at some old photo albums of Grace as a baby. The consensus was that Jude is like her as she was then, Eda, we think, favours John.

Another good day and some new stories to read tonight.
